Try a vegetable box scheme if you want the freshest organic vegetables and fruit, delivered free to you each week. Buying a regular vegbox benefits small, independent growers directly and ensures that you get the tastiest seasonal produce there is. Oxford is lucky enough to have several box schemes running in the area, so you know you're getting truly local stuff, failing that, the big boys like Riverford and Abel and Cole, still source from independent growers' and have a much wider product range.

What do you get?

Most schemes offer a basic box containing a selection of seasonal veg, whilst you can't choose specifically, most will tell you what vegetables to expect each week and let you change your order if there's something you don't like Boxes also come in several sizes to suit different households, starting from about £7 for a small box which is enough for 1-2 people.

Delivery

Larger schemes will deliver to your door, some of the smaller ones drop the boxes off a collection points throughout the city for you to collect from.
